Perla Vazquez Guzman
Meet Perla Vazquez Guzman!
Perla graduated from Gillette College in 2024 with an AS in General Studies. She is moving right along with her education and attending CSU in the Fall, where she plans to double major in Communications and Business. When talking with Perla I was impressed and motivated by her drive. She has had many tough obstacles in her life, but they seem to be temporary roadblocks that she has broke right through. Her five year plan includes working on her Masters and just being more settled into the life she has created.
In Perla’s free time she loves spending time with her three children and her dog Blue. She also enjoys her time at the gym. She was very involved at Gillette College. She was president of both PTK and the Science Association and has been a student ambassador since Spring 2022. She has been awarded multiple scholarships throughout her 2 years here. In 2024 she became involved with active minds through a partnership with PTK to help improve the mental health on Gillette Campus. She is very proud of her work with creative writing club on a project called “Love Letter to Ourselves”.
Perla is an amazing, positive, and very smart student. She is easy to talk to and has a great attitude towards life and higher education. “I have worked really hard to show my children that no matter what you can still do it. Not only to show them, but myself too. I have gotten to where I am thanks to staff and faculty at Gillette College. They all helped in their own way especially when I was going through a tough time. They never gave up on me but most importantly they didn't let me give up on myself.”
